We're here to support your
interests and goals!
The general classification EGR is given to undergraduate students who have been admitted to the College of Engineering but are not yet affiliated with a degree-granting engineering department.
All EGR students receive academic advising through the EGR Office. We welcome you at any time to discuss a wide variety of topics, such as:
- Personal interests and career goals
- Majors in or outside of engineering
- Curriculum requirements and course selection
- Academic support, such as tutoring services and study groups
- Admission to engineering departments
- Extracurricular activities
- Campus resources and services
- Referrals for nonacademic problems
- Advisors:
-
Donald Woolston, Beth Dawson, Suzy Sandrik, and Eman Zaki are the EGR advisors. One of them will be your assigned advisor.
- Advising overview:
-
An outline of the advising and registration process is available in this introduction.
- Advising for registration:
-
If you have an EGR designation, you must attend an advising meeting during each of the first two semesters in Engineering Hall, usually in November and March, to prepare for the following semester. If you do not attend a meeting, you will be unable to register for courses that semester. Meeting schedules are available now.
- Academic advising:
-
You are welcome to make an appointment to speak with your assigned advisor, or with any of the other advisors, by calling 608/262-2473. We encourage you to meet your advisor soon after arriving on campus and to consult them regularly. Individual meetings with advisors are the best forum for discussing educational interests and goals, possible majors, course progress, or concerns.
