Biological Systems Engineering

Biological systems engineering is the application of engineering to agricultural industries. It includes the design and development of farm machinery, equipment, power units, animal shelters, product storage methods, processing equipment and facilities, and irrigation and drainage systems.

The curriculum includes courses in agriculture and biology as well as engineering and liberal studies courses. Elective courses are available for specialization in power and machinery, structures and environment, soil and water engineering, forest engineering and food engineering.

The BS degree in biological systems engineering is granted jointly by the College of Engineering and the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
