Fall 2008 EGR Advising
Select one advising choice.
-
If you are a first-year EGR student, you have an advising hold and must attend a group advising meeting appropriate for your interest. Choose one meeting from the schedule (PDF).
After the meeting, your advising hold will be removed so that you can register on line at your assigned time.
After the meeting, you are also very welcome to make an appointment with your EGR advisor to discuss remaining issues you might have (call 262-2473).
As always, if you have questions or issues unrelated to registration, feel free to see your advisor before then.
-
If you are a second-year EGR student, choose ONE of the following options:
-
Make a one-on-one appointment with your advisor by calling 262-2473; if you choose this option, call right away, because appointments will book up quickly.
-
If you are SURE you have no questions, and are SURE you are on the right track, you can e-mail your name, ID number, list of classes and intended major but you must use the web form at this URL:
http://studentservices.engr.wisc.edu/advising/pre-registration.html.
Do this at least a week before your expected registration time, in case there are complications.
-
See another advisor on campus.
-
If you are an EGR student who started at UW-Madison prior to Fall 2006, you must see your EGR advisor to clear your advising hold. Call 262-2473 soon to schedule an appointment.
-
If you have officially transferred out of the College of Engineering, check MyUW to find out if an advising hold has been placed on your registration. If an advising hold is active, e-mail your former EGR advisor or email
EGRadvisor@engr.wisc.edu
to have the hold removed.
Please mention your name, ID number, new major (if you have chosen one), list of classes, and new school or college (for example, Letters & Science).
What happens at the group advising meetings
By now, you should have a general idea about your curriculum requirements.
At the meetings, therefore, we will talk only briefly about the requirements.
Instead, we will discuss topics such as DARS reports, registration updates, scholarships, advising in departments, and independent study opportunities.
Importantly, a faculty member will preview departmental opportunities, discuss career possibilities, and answer questions.
At the meetings for undecided students, we will discuss general courses to take and provide general advising.
For more details about the advising options, please read the Special Message most closely related to your academic status:
