What kinds of scholarships or financial aid are available to freshman engineering students?

Application for financial aid based on need is made as part of the application for university admission (on the same form). Students must also complete the Financial Aid Form, available through high school counselors or from:

Student Financial Services Office 432 North Murray Street Madison, WI 53706-1496 Phone: 608/262-2473 jumpgate.acadsvcs.wisc.edu/finaid/

Merit-based scholarships, made possible by alumni donations, are awarded to about 100 entering high school seniors every spring. Awards are based on outstanding high school performance, aptitude and potential to succeed, as well as recommendations of high school math, chemistry or physics teachers. Awards are for the first year only. Subsequently, high-ability students can compete for merit-based scholarships given by individual departments. (admin.engr.wisc.edu/affairs/pre/scholar.htm)
