Arrival Date

All international exchange students need to arrive in time to participate in Welcome Week and International Student Orientation activities (check the Academic Calendar to get these dates for the semester you arrive in Madison). A mandatory orientation session for exchange students will take place during this orientation week. A complete schedule of the week's events will be available when you arrive on campus.

If you arrive for the fall semester, arrive during the first or second week of August if you plan to live off-campus in an apartment. Most rental leases begin on August 15. If you are to study in Madison for the spring semester, you should arrive during the first or second week of January in order to find off-campus accommodation.
