Language requirement

Classes are taught in English. No foreign language requirement.

GPA requirement

3.0 cumulative (this can vary somewhat by institution)

Housing

On or off-campus housing is available. Most students live on campus while attending Monash University. On-campus housing is difficult to get at the University of Queensland, therefore most students have lived in apartments off campus. UQ will provide airport reception and short term housing upon arrival.

  • Spring: October 1
  • Fall/Academic Year: March 1

Budget

As an international student, you will be responsible for many of your own day-to-day living costs in Australia. These costs can vary enormously from one student and site to another. In the information below we try to provide a guide, but the figures are and can only be estimates.

University of Queensland

Tuition and fees: AUD$9,000 AUD to be paid directly to the University of Queensland upon arrival. Currency exchange rates fluctuate. Convert to U.S. equivalent on xe.com.
UW program fee: $300
UW-mandated health insurance: $37/month
OSHC Australian health insurance (required): $175 AUD
Housing/semester: $1,700
Meals: $1,500 semester
Miscellaneous expenses (laundry, books, supplies, etc.): $1,000
Roundtrip travel: $1,800
Local transportation: $70/month
Student visa: approximately $400 USD
Entertainment, vacation and travel costs vary widely.

Monash University

Currently, UW-Madison students pay UW tuition. In the future, depending on the exchange balance, some students may pay tuition at Monash University rates. In this case, tuition and fees would be approximately $8,800 per semester, based on $10,000 AUD.
