Brief Description

Fall or spring semester is possible at some schools; other school calendars permit only academic year. Fall semester of studies followed by an internship is also available. Please refer to the Global E3 website for more detailed information about the schools and about Germany.

Language requirement

German 204 or its equivalent is required for participation in these exchange programs. Fachhochschule München offers some classes in English.

GPA requirement

3.0 cumulative (this can vary somewhat by institution)

Housing

Most schools offer on-campus housing (dormitories). Please see the Global E3 or German school's website for details of each school's housing opportunities.

Application deadlines

  • Spring: October 1
  • Fall/Academic Year: March 1

Budget

Tuition and fees: University of Wisconsin-Madison tuition
UW program fee: $300
UW-mandated health insurance: $37/month
Housing: $400 per month
Meals: $350 per month
Miscellaneous expenses (laundry, books, supplies, etc.): $1000
Roundtrip travel: $850
Local transportation: $60/month
Student visa: $40.00
Students need approximately 4,000 EUR per semester in Germany

Entertainment, vacation and travel costs vary widely. Host institutions may also require students to purchase their policies in addition to CISI.

Application

1) For the Universitat Karlsruhe, apply online through the university's web site.

For the Global E3 schools, apply through Global E3's electronic application form online.

2) Complete the IESP Application Cover Sheet (PDF or Word).

3) Turn in recommendation letters, transcripts and all other required documents and the cover sheet to IESP.
