Language requirement

Classes are taught in English. No foreign language requirement.

GPA requirement

3.0 cumulative (this can vary somewhat by institution)

Housing

The University has a number of halls of residence. Each hall reserves a small number of places for non-local students. However competition is keen. Admission to the University does not provide guarantee of accommodation, which remains the responsibility of each student. Incoming non-local students who wish to apply for a hall place should contact the Office of Student Affairs for application. Please visit the office website at http://www.hku.hk/osa/ for details.

  • Spring: October 1
  • Fall/Academic Year: March 1

Budget

Tuition and fees: University of Wisconsin-Madison tuition
UW program fee: $300
UW-mandated health insurance: $37/month
Housing (on campus): HK $940–HK $1,900/month (plus utilities, air conditioning, etc.)
Hall association fees: HK $800–HK $1,400/semester
Housing (off campus): HK $3,000–HK $9,000
Meals (on campus): HK $2,760–HK $3,750/semester
Meals (off campus): HK $2,000/month
Local transportation: HK $700/month
Miscellaneous expenses (laundry, books, supplies, etc.): $1,000
Roundtrip travel: $1,500
Student visa: $50

Entertainment, vacation and travel costs vary widely. Host institutions may also require students to purchase their policies in addition to CISI.

Application

1) Complete Global E3's electronic application form online.

2) Complete the IESP Application Cover Sheet (PDF or Word).

3) Turn in recommendation letters, transcripts and all other required documents and the cover sheet to IESP.
