Brief Description

Language requirement

Some classes are taught in English. Please see NTNU's website for a listing of classes taught in English. For students wishing to take classes in Norwegian, 2 semesters of college level Norwegian are required.

Students can learn Norwegian at the intensive summer course or one of the Norwegian classes offered in the autumn and the spring. You will find information on these courses on the university's Office of International Relations: http://www.ntnu.no/international.

GPA requirement

3.0 cumulative (this can vary somewhat by institution)

Housing

On-campus housing (dormitories) is available. Many students live in apartments, arranged upon arrival. Please see the Norwegian school's website for details of each school's housing opportunities.

  • Spring: October 1
  • Fall/Academic Year: March 1

Budget

Tuition and fees: University of Wisconsin-Madison tuition
UW program fee: $300
UW-mandated health insurance: $37/month
Housing and meals: $900/month
Miscellaneous expenses (laundry, books, supplies, etc.): $1000
Roundtrip travel: $900
Local transportation: $60/month

Entertainment, vacation and travel costs vary widely. Host institutions may also require students to purchase their policies in addition to CISI.

Application

1) Complete NTNU's online application form no later than three months before your intended arrival in Norway.

2) Complete the IESP Application Cover Sheet (PDF or Word).

3) Turn in recommendation letters, transcripts and all other required documents and the cover sheet to IESP.
