College of Engineering Study Abroad Programs

Brief Description

Due to the differences in each program, see Amanda Hammatt for detailed information about the application process and other detailed information. Below, you will find some more general information about the programs.

Language requirement

No language requirement.

GPA requirement

Sheffield: 3.0 cumulative
Warwick: 3.0 cumulative
UCL: 3.2 cumulative

Housing

Most schools offer on-campus housing (dormitories). Please see the Global E3 or English school's website for details of each school's housing opportunities.

Duration

Many courses at Warwick and UCL are year-long and students cannot attend for only one semester. Prior to submitting your semester abroad application, please meet with the IESP advisor to verify if your courses will be available for a semester or only a year.

  • Fall/Academic Year: March 1

Budget

Tuition and fees: University of Wisconsin-Madison tuition
UW program fee: $300
UW-mandated health insurance: $37/month
Housing: $2,000 semester
Meals: $2,800 semester
Miscellaneous expenses (laundry, books, supplies, etc.): $1200
Roundtrip travel: $800
Local transportation: $70/month
Student visa: $162
Entertainment, vacation and travel costs vary widely.

Application

University College London: See Amanda Hammatt for application. The IESP Application Cover Sheet should also be completed and turned in with documents.

University of Sheffield: The application form is available online. Required documents (such as recommendation letters and transcripts) should be returned to the International Engineering Studies and Programs office by the application deadline. The IESP Application Cover Sheet (PDF or Word) should also be completed and turned in with documents.

Scholarship Information

The University of Sheffield is offering study abroad scholarships for students from the United States in the amount of approximately $1000 for Spring 2009. Any U.S. national accepting a place at Sheffield is eligible to apply. For information and the online application form, see:
