I'm interested in computers. How do they relate to engineering?

All engineers use computers in problem-solving activities. There are two aspects to computers, usually designated as software and hardware. Software deals primarily with computer programming, developing the machine language with which the computer works and the kinds of problems it can be used to solve. Electrical and computer engineers are primarily concerned with designing computer hardware--the equipment and circuitry that make up the computer. Students not particularly interested in engineering, but who are interested in software development, should enroll as computer science majors in the College of Letters and Science.
