Engineering General Resources (EGR) Office for Student Support and Advising
Students entering the college directly from high school are classified as EGR students who have an intended major (for example, chemical engineering) or who are undecided.
The EGR Office is their advising and academic affairs center. Each incoming student is assigned to an EGR advisor who helps students.
adapt to college life and studies
explore their interests and goals
investigate majors/careers in and outside of engineering
select classes, including introduction-to-engineering courses
work toward meeting departmental admission requirements
participate in engineering activities and organizations.
EGR students typically apply to an engineering degree-granting department at the end of their first year.
For departmental admission, students must meet specific requirements, including a cumulative GPA that may fluctuate with student enrollment.
Once admitted to an engineering department, students are assigned an advisor within their chosen department.
The EGR advisors also meet with prospective students and their parents or guardians, as well as communicate with high school teachers and counselors.
The EGR advisors and staff welcome all question and visits!
